France: Loire Valley

We first visited the Bayeux Cathedral to see the Bayeux Tapestry, which dates back to the 11th century and is nearly 230 ft long! It depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England and the Battle of Hastings. But I forgot to take any pics! :(

We then spent the next two days exploring the chateaux of the Loire Valley. The first chateau we visited was Villandry, which is known for it's exquisite gardens. We took a quick tour of the interior but spent most of our time exploring the impressive gardens...

and a shot of the castle...

It was Mark's birthday so we walked to a restaurant to celebrate!

Mark with his birthday dessert!

Adam got the cheese selection for his dessert

The next day we visited Chenonceau, which was my favorite chateau that we saw. I loved how it was built on the river...

of course we had to get crepes for lunch! They did not disappoint :)

And the last chateau we saw was Chambord, which was the biggest one surrounded by a forest. It was built by King Francis I as a hunting lodge.

Adam and I have always wanted to dine at a Michelin Star restaurant and so when we found out there was one in Chambord, we made it happen!

Our Michelin Starred chef, Christophe Hay...

We got the five course prix fixe menu and it was delicious!

And of course we had to get a pic with our chef!

Your pictures are all so beautiful - everything - the chateau landscape, the food, the people - everything! I love the photo of you and Adam with the Chambord chateau in the background! The Michelin Star food is truly a work of art! WOW!
