Chicago: Day 3

On our last day in Chicago we went to the Field Museum. Gigi said that the museum was one her favorite things we did in Chicago. :)

After the museum, we wanted to get a quick lunch before hitting the road. We googled the best hot dog in Chicago and found Hot Doug's. There was a line but we thought it would move fast and not take too long so Adam got in line. Well, 3 1/2 hours later we finally got our food! Apparently, Hot Doug's is closing soon and some people were ordering the entire menu so that's why it took so long. It was really good and worth the wait though!

We had a wonderful time in Chicago and I fell in love with the city! So many things to see and do and so many good restaurants. I'd love to go back someday to see more.

Chicago: Day 2

On our 2nd day in Chicago, we started the day with a yummy breakfast at The Old Oak Tap. I had cinnamon roll french toast topped with glazed apples and mascarpone cheese and it was delicious!

We then headed to the Lincoln Park Zoo.

The kids loved seeing all the animals and walking around the zoo.

The zoo was in Lincoln Park which was such a pretty setting with the city in the background. This is one of my favorite pics from the whole trip.

We each tried to get pics with the kids, but it was impossible to have them both looking at the camera! :)

After the zoo we got a little treat at Molly's Cupcakes and I got a red velvet cupcake of course!

We then went back to the hotel for a little rest before dinner. Being a fan of Giuliana and Bill Rancic, I had to got to their restaurant RPM Italian. It was soooo good and I highly recommend it!

I forgot to take pics of our dinner but here's our dessert, a hazelnut chocolate ice cream ball. So yummy!

After dinner we went to Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower). They have The Ledge, which is a glass box that extends out from the building so you can see below. Since it was nighttime, it was hard to get a good picture...

But the night sky was pretty to see with all the city lights :)

Chicago: Day 1

We decided to take a trip to Chicago for the weekend. Chicago is always a city that I've wanted to visit since my Dad served his mission there and my parents also lived there while he attended dental school. We left Friday night (Sept 12th) and drove halfway and stayed in Madison, WI. Then we drove the rest of the way Saturday morning. Before we went to our hotel, we stopped to see Wrigley Field. Unfortunately, the Cubs weren't playing any games that weekend but we wanted to stop by and see it anyway.

After we got back to the hotel we picked up pizza from Giordano's, which was so yummy!!! I've been craving this pizza ever since we got home!

After we ate we walked down to Millenium Park to see all the amazing artwork there. Here we are in front of Crown Fountain...

And Cloud Gate or "The Bean"

We then walked down to Navy Pier, which ended up being quite a hike, but we made it!

We rode the Ferris Wheel which the kids loved and I loved the beautiful view from the top.

Gigi of course wanted to ride the carousel too.

We picked up hot chocolate and donuts at Dunkin Donuts on the way home. It was a busy day and luckily the kids fell right asleep.

Seventeen Months Old (Liam's Monthly Photo)

Liam turned seventeen months old on September 11th. His monthly stats are:
Height: 33.3 inches; 91st percentile
Weight: 25 lbs 8 oz; 76th percentile
Head Circumference: 18.5 inches; 44th percentile

Liam is learning so many words now! He loves to talk 'baby talk' which is the cutest thing and a baby stage that I just love! He knows lots of animals and can say their sounds: woof, moo, quack, neigh, meow, oink. He is a little monkey and loves to climb on everything. Recently he learned how to push chairs around the house so he can get into more stuff, his favorite being the light switches. Here are his monthly photos...
