Adam and I traveled to Europe to go on a Mediterranean cruise with Jessica's family and it was truly an amazing trip! Adam and I had a long layover in Amsterdam so we decided to make the most of it and explore the city. We first stopped for some yummy mint tea and dutch apple pie and it did not disappoint! We then walked around the city and I couldn't stop taking pics of all the beautiful scenery...
We walked by the Anne Frank house, which had a super long line to get in. Unfortunately, our layover wasn't long enough for us to see it - maybe next time. :)
We also walked down to see the Amsterdam sign, which had a big group performing right in front of it so this was the best pic we could get...
We then had to walk back to the train station to catch a train back to the airport. One more pic of the lovely canals before I go....
We arrived in Rome later that night. The next day was our first day in Rome and it was a rainy one!
We visited the Ara Pacis which is an ancient Roman altar.
We then had lunch at a yummy place recommended by Rick Steves of course!
Our next stop was the Catacombs of Priscilla. I didn't get any pics since we weren't allowed to take them. But it was very interesting learning about the Christian burials, these ones were used from 2nd century to 4th century A.D. We ended the day with dinner and of course some geleato!
The next day we attended church at a nearby branch in Rome.
Afterwards we visited the National Roman Museum and then headed to the Pantheon...
This was one of my favorite sites in Rome, I especially loved the grand ceiling!
We then walked to the Trevi Fountain...
it was under construction but we still had to throw a coin over our shoulder to ensure our return to Rome!
We then walked to the Spanish Steps, which were also under construction...
Of course we had to get some gelato. Our motto was "When in Italy, you must have gelato at least three times a day!"
We ended the day with dinner and some more gelato of course!
