Chicago: Day 1

We decided to take a trip to Chicago for the weekend. Chicago is always a city that I've wanted to visit since my Dad served his mission there and my parents also lived there while he attended dental school. We left Friday night (Sept 12th) and drove halfway and stayed in Madison, WI. Then we drove the rest of the way Saturday morning. Before we went to our hotel, we stopped to see Wrigley Field. Unfortunately, the Cubs weren't playing any games that weekend but we wanted to stop by and see it anyway.

After we got back to the hotel we picked up pizza from Giordano's, which was so yummy!!! I've been craving this pizza ever since we got home!

After we ate we walked down to Millenium Park to see all the amazing artwork there. Here we are in front of Crown Fountain...

And Cloud Gate or "The Bean"

We then walked down to Navy Pier, which ended up being quite a hike, but we made it!

We rode the Ferris Wheel which the kids loved and I loved the beautiful view from the top.

Gigi of course wanted to ride the carousel too.

We picked up hot chocolate and donuts at Dunkin Donuts on the way home. It was a busy day and luckily the kids fell right asleep.

It is so fun to see your pictures and read of your trip. It brings back some fond memories. However, there are new things now in Chicago - " The Bean" and that fountain look great! Chicago pizza is wonderful - that was always a special treat for us on a Friday or Saturday night during our dental school years. Looks like the kids loved the sights and especially the Ferris wheel and merry-go-round. I love the photos of all of you!

Dad says there are enormous changes in the city since his mission and even more changes since dental school. But Wrigley Field is the same except they put lights up. And...the pizza has always been the best. The Italien beef sandwiches there are also delicious - try them next time!
