We moved into our first home a year ago and I'm still working on getting a lot of the rooms finished. It takes me time (and money!) to design each room, and things are coming along slowly but surely. The dining room is just about done, other than I still want to change the light fixture. Here's what it looked like when we moved in...
And here's what it looks like now...
One of the first updates we made was paint. We chose Grey Owl by Benjamin Moore and used it throughout most of our home. It's a great neutral color and a nice cool tone. Our dining space is small and just off the kitchen (which is to the left in the pic above) but it's just the right size for a table and four chairs. When we have guests over I can add another leaf to the table to accommodate more.
I just love photographer Max Wanger, his photos are so dreamy and inspiring. This ocean picture is his 'tulum' print and I just adore it. Every time I look at it, it just makes me happy. :) And I feel so grown up owning such a large piece of art.
I also re-stained the dining table. With all the cool tones in the room I felt like the space needed wood to bring in some warmth. And to tie the chairs in I decided to 'dip' the legs in white paint. The rug is one that I painted a few years back that you can read about here. It has really held up and since it's painted, it's great for under a dining table. Any spilled food or drink just wipe off and don't stain.
So that's it! If you have any suggestions for a light fixture I'd love to hear them. Just let me know in the comments. :)

The room looks great! I love the artwork and the table turned out really well! It is so fun to see what you do with each room - you are so creative!
I love it!!! I love your decorating style! I love the paint color, we did beige everything in this house and I am ready to play with gray a little.
I love the art and the grouping of objects in the wooden tray. You definitely have a good eye, Jessica!
